Business Success

What if every time you posted an update that was not relevant to your followers reasons for following your brand in the first place, you lost a follower. These days, it is all too common that people suffer from information overload. And we are all culpable of trimming the fat when it comes to limiting our exposure to irrelevant subject matter. I know from my own personal practice, if I get three consecutive updates from the same source that don't hit home in some relevant way, I simply unsubscribe. I was thinking about how that same mentality is likely held by a good majority of the population. I mean who wants to know about anything they have no interest in? Do you want to know about what I had for lunch today? That is exactly why you need to be exceptional in everything you post to your social media.

Now of course your not talking about that meal at Roxie’s in your posting - though the point remains, too many off-topic irrelevant updates and you loose. Be it a potential follower who is reading your social media for the first time, or a long time follower who just gets bored, neither is going to "like" you much longer. Relevance is most essential to any successful social media campaign. It requires you to be consistent in you're tone, true to your goals in the content and express within each update why people should follow you. Think of it "like" this, every update is an expression of who you are as an individual or an organization and it should add to the cumulative body of work which becomes your brand. There is a purpose to what you do.

It's the ultimate goals of your works online to relay that purpose and provide a means to achieve "it" for your target audience. If you don't satisfy the appetite of your followers in your periodic updates for the "how" of what you do, they'll never understand the "why" of what you do. The number one driving reason afterall of why we do anything is to satisfy a need. If your not authentic to your purpose and the motivations that drive your audience, they will just as quickly loose sight of why they followed you in the first place.

The next time you post an update, stop to think about four things before you hit that send button.

-Will this relate to people who don't know who you are or don't know your brand?
-Does it reinforce to your followers who you are and why you do what you do?
-Has it got the substance needed to compel someone to "like" you and learn more?
-Will it fulfil your followers expectations and provide a value to them enhancing your brand?

If you don't think to yourself a resounding YES to each of these questions, maybe you should reconsider the update altogether. Maybe it would be best to hire a social media marketing professional and have them run your campaign in line with your brands ultimate goals. Those being of course the same as those for which your followers need you. The bottom line is you are (your brand is) the answer to your markets need.

Be the best solution by giving them what they want in every update. Let them know why you do what you do best. If your having trouble reaching that end on your own - it's time to get in touch with us at Web Direct Studio and let us show you why we do what we do best.
